Howdy Texas SCTP family,
Â
Buckle up. We’re launching the most ambitious, athlete-first Awards & Recognition Plan in Texas SCTP history — and it’s about to light a fire under youth shooting across the Lone Star State.
Â
What’s new (and why it matters)
Scholarships will now be awarded at funded Open Shoots — $5,100 in scholarships is now available per Open Shoot across classes and divisions (1st: $500 · 2nd: $250 · 3rd: $100). Real dollars for real performance, paid directly to your school when you’re ready.
League Hardware, leveled up — End-of-season HOA buckles in every class × gender, plus 5 Team Buckles to the top five athletes on the first-place team (follows the same proven “Buckle Race” method—clear, fair, no drama).
Registered Targets at select Open Shoots — So you can earn classes/punches and chase All-American points during the season, not just at State. (Planned at: Ugly Christmas Sweater 200, North Texas March Madness 200, Buckle Brawl, Texas All-Stars High School Showcase, DFW Championship, Regional Championship, and Texas State Championship, and more to come.)
Adults are now allowed to shoot in selected Open Shoots. Adults are now invited to shoot in these Open Shoots as well. So join the fun and make memories that last a lifetime!
This isn’t tinkering at the edges. It’s a statement: Texas SCTP is investing—BIG—into the future of our youth athletes and the sport we love.
Scholarship eligibility (simple, but important)
To be eligible for scholarship awards at an Open Shoot, an athlete must:
Compete in at least three (3) league shoots in their home league before the Open Shoot awards where they place.
Be properly registered in SCTP and NGBs, and in good standing.
Compete in the correct class/division (Intermediate combines IE+IA; Rookie is not included for scholarship dollars).
Scholarships accrue across your high-school career and are paid to your college or trade/technical school when you redeem. We track it — so you can focus on breaking targets and building a future.
Â
Why this changes the game
More reasons to shoot SCTP all season long.
A faster on-ramp to national recognition with registered targets woven into the calendar.
Real financial fuel for athletes who put in the work.
Clear ladder: Open Shoots → Leagues → State → All-American ambitions.
