Jason Anderson
Jason Anderson is the current SCTP Director of Develpoment for the Southwest Region.
Anderson is in his twenty fifth year as a public educator in the great state of Texas and in his sixteenth year at Allen High School in Allen Texas. He is the past Head Coach of the six-time SCTP High School National Champions Allen Eagles Competitive Shooting Team, the Allen Archery Team, and the Bass Fishing Team. At Allen ISD he also developed the Outdoor Adventures Program, which is in its thirteenth year. Former Allen Eagles Assistant head coach Richard Scott commented, "Winning is great, but Jason does so much more for these kids than a schoolteacher is required to do. Above all else, he's been a positive influence and role model to hundreds of athletes while instilling in them a lifelong respect and appreciation for shooting sports." Anderson graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science and a Minor in Health. He was honored by the Dallas Ecological Foundation as Educator of the Year in 2014. In 2015 he became an NRA training counselor, and he is also an NRA Coach Level 2. Anderson has served as Texas’ State Advisor to the Scholastic Clay Target Program for the past ten years. "I am honored and excited to continue to promote and support SCTP teams," Anderson stated. "Supporting the SCTP coaches is key in our success." According to Jeff Morrison, director of development for the Western U.S., "Jason brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. His dedication to youth sports in Texas is exactly what we need to continue our strong growth in the southern states."
Madeline Maggard
Madeline Maggard coaches for Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas which is in its 8th year. She has 11 years of shooting experience, with shotgun and pistol. The 40 or so athletes are eligible to earn varsity letters in the shooting sports which is one of her most meaningful accomplishments. She is blessed with a supportive group of parents and school administrators who appreciate the added value the team brings to the school's already broad list of sports and extracurriculars. The JCST made its first ever appearance at Nationals in 2022 and she looks forward to cheering on her athletes again this year!
Dave West
A former US Army Officer and former law enforcement officer, Dave has taught and coached various firearms disciplines for more than 3 decades and holds firearms instructor, and coach certifications from a variety of agencies and organizations including the FBI, Tennessee POST, Arkansas POST, and the NRA. Currently a senior executive leader in the defense services industry, Dave holds a Bachelors Degree in Education, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Strategic Management, and is a currently a Doctoral Candidate pursuing a Doctorate of Business Administration. He is married and through his blended family has four children. The youngest shot for her high school competitive shotgun team which led Dave down the path of becoming an assistant coach for the team and to get involved with SCTP. Dave shares a passion with his wife for children’s charities. In 2022 they co-founded a non profit, The Four Kids Foundation, which is focused on improving the lives of children in developing countries through the provision of food security, water security, education, and shelter resources.
Mark Myers is a dedicated volunteer in youth shooting sports, committed to fostering athlete development and expanding opportunities for young shooters. He has been asked to serve as the Texas SCTP State Advisor for the Northwest Division, recognizing his contributions to the sport and his leadership in organizing community-driven events.
As a volunteer organizer, he helped coordinate the Keller Clays Buckle Classic, playing a key role in tournament operations, sponsorship outreach, and fundraising initiatives that support high school and collegiate shooting teams. He is also a strong advocate for youth involvement in shooting sports, actively supporting his son’s participation in Lindenwood University’s Shooting Sports Program.
Through his volunteer efforts, Mark is dedicated to strengthening the SCTP community in Texas, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring that young athletes have the resources to succeed in competitive shooting.
Shyuemin Pang
Assistance coach for the Lone Star Select Shooting Team in Houston. Averaging 20+ hours of team practice and 12+ hours of private one-on-one lessons per month.
Assistance coach for the Katy Dusters in Houston. Averaging 12 hours of team practice, and occasional private one-on-one lessons each month.
SCTP State Advisor for Houston Area SCTP Teams. Responsible for the organization of the Houston SCTP League shoots.
SCTP Field Day Trainer. Holds quarterly field day training at the Greater Houston Sports Club for new SCTP coaches in the area.
NSSA Level II instructor, on target to become Level III instructor by Oct 2023.
Long time NSSA Skeet Shooter with over 20,000 registered targets.
As a 20+ year veteran FireFighter/Paramedic, James holds multiple advanced certifications within both Fire and EMS disciplines. Along with serving North Texas communities, he spent 12 years with the Army National Guard as a Flight and Ground Medic serving the state of Texas, as well as being a member of the State Task Force responding to swift water emergencies/hurricane responses throughout the state.
James is a Level 1 NRA Shotgun Coach and assistant coach for the Aledo Clay Busters and plans to advance his coaching certifications. Assisting with coaching has encouraged him to become a member in the NSCA and ATA traveling to events across Texas with aspirations to participate in shoots on a competitive level. Free time is spent with his wife and two children outdoors hunting, fishing, and shooting clays.
Aaron Alvarado has officially been appointed as the State Advisor for the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) in Texas, bringing a proven track record of coaching excellence, youth mentorship, and program leadership to the role.
Aaron has coached youth shooters across SCTP, 4-H, and the USA Clay Target League for more than six years. He currently serves as Head Coach of the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team, Brush Country 4-H, and the Sharyland Pioneer Trap & Skeet Team—a program he has led since 2019. His programs have consistently demonstrated success at local, regional, and national levels.
In 2024, Aaron’s leadership helped the South Texas Competitive Shooting Team secure multiple podium finishes at the SCTP Texas State Championships held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas.
Aaron also serves on the Board of Directors at Mission Skeet & Trap Club in Mission, Texas, where he holds the title of Skeet Director. In addition to organizing NSSA and ATA registered events, he leads the club’s outreach efforts by managing all social media platforms.
His digital communication efforts extend to overseeing the websites and social media (Instagram and Facebook) for Mission Skeet & Trap Club, South Texas Competitive Shooting Team, and the Sharyland Pioneer Trap & Skeet Team. His innovative approach to community engagement and marketing has helped raise the visibility of youth shooting sports across South Texas.
Aaron holds a Master’s degree in Management and brings over 23 years of experience in education and workforce development. His background in event coordination, fundraising, team building, and youth development made him the perfect fit for the State Advisor position.
Aaron Alvarado’s appointment marks an exciting chapter for SCTP in Texas, with a continued focus on growth, mentorship, and excellence in the clay target shooting community.
